No game today - Saturday, Feb. 16

The weather has wreaked havoc this season.

Saturday, Feb. 9 only: kickoff 2pm at SMW

Tom checked the fields this morning and believes we can get a game in this afternoon. There is a lot of ice on the fields at Shawnee Mission North so we will be moving the game to Shawnee Mission West. The field is on the east side of the school that runs along Antioch as it approaches 85th Street.

This is a one time change in both location and time.

Saturday games are moving to Maple Hills Park

Beginning this week, the stadium at SMN will be in use during our 9am match, so we are moving to 85th Street and Switzer. At the end of the high school football season, we will move back to North.

All other games will remain at North at this time.

All Matches Moving to Maple Hills Park

During the graduation season, SMN will be in high demand. Until June 6, all matches will be played at Maple Hills Park.

Saturday Match Moving Back to North

The regularly scheduled Saturday game is moving back to Shawnee Mission North High School beginning this Saturday, November 8, at 9am. Hope to see you on the field!

Saturday match moving to Maple Hills Park

For the entirety of the high school football season, we will be playing the SATURDAY MATCH ONLY at Maple Hills Park (85th St. & Switzer). All other games, including the special matches, will remain at SMN. Please refer to the right-side of the page (web version only) for a link to a map.

One-time Field Change This Saturday - Sept 7

The SMN freshmen have a football game at North at 10am. Therefore we will move to Maple Hills for the 9am match. This is a one-time change.

FCKC has their first playoff game at North at 1pm. Therefore we will move to Maple Hills for the 9am match. This is a one-time change.

Fall Happenings

With the time change this coming Sunday, this will be the last week of Wednesday soccer at Maple Hills Park until spring.

Also, beginning this Saturday (November 3), we will be changing fields for our 9am Saturday games. Please see the right side of this page for the current location.

One-Time Field Change - Saturday, March 31

Due to a track meet at SMN, we will be playing at 9am on the main field at Shawnee Mission East High School. If the field is unavailable, check the upper (grass) field first. If both fields are in use, Maple Hills Park is our reserve field, followed by Youngs Park.

Saturdays are back at SMN

Beginning this Saturday, we will return to Shawnee Mission North at the intersection of Johnson Drive and Melcalf. The time is still 9am.

Interim field change

The fall schedule looks pretty congested at North, so beginning tonight we will move to Maple Hills Park until the conclusion of the high school football season. This is for both weekly matches. There are map links in the section on the right, and you can contact me directly here if needed.

Wednesdays will return to 5:30pm to maximize our daylight hours.

One time game location change

This coming Saturday - April 30, 2011 - we will move to Shawnee Mission East, as SMN will be hosting a district-wide track meet.  The start-time remains 9am.  Hope you can make it!

No games this weekend

The games for Saturday and Sunday have both been called off this week.

Our club photographer was hard at work again on Saturday.  Ken captured some of the action.

Triumphant return to East

Our nomadic game is headed back to Shawnee Mission East High School (75th & Mission Road).  The time is still 9am.  Hope you can make it!

New Wednesday time & Saturday alt field

With the rapidly decreasing daylight window, we will move the time of the Wednesday match to 5:30pm.  Hope you all can make the earlier start time!

Also, we will be giving the Porter Park natural grass surface some time to recover.  A couple weeks in a row of us playing on the rain softened pitch has had a negative impact on the park.  In the spirit of being responsible citizens, we will move our alternate location in the interim.  We have a couple locations on our short list, so we will meet in the parking lot of SME to discuss before moving.

SME Calendar

The calendar link is up and working.  September appears to be free and clear on Saturday mornings, but that is always subject to change, of course.

Tunde brought up the Pelada movie in a recent comment.  Unfortunately, Kansas City just had a screening a couple weeks ago, and it fell off my radar before I could pass the word.  I will keep my eyes and ears open for future screenings.  A couple of us saw it the first time it showed in KC and I would strongly urge everyone to see it if they have the chance.  The DVDs are now available from their website, so please check out the link at the bottom of this page if you are interested.
